Ingredients:
- 1 large red onion, thinly sliced
- 1 cup apple cider vinegar
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- Optional: Peppercorns and bay leaves
Instructions:
- Place the sliced red onions in a clean glass jar.
- In a small saucepan, combine the apple cider vinegar, sugar, and salt. Heat over medium heat until the sugar and salt dissolve. Add the optional spices
- Pour the vinegar mixture over the sliced onions in the jar, ensuring they are fully covered.
- Let the mixture cool to room temperature, then seal the jar.
- Refrigerate for at least 1 hour before using. The longer the onions marinate, the better the flavor.
- Enjoy the pickled red onions on sandwiches, salads, tacos, or any dish you desire!
Note: The pickled red onions can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks but will not last that long.
